San Diego and more!

:iconred-monkey: and I bought our plane tickets. We'll be in the states from the 21st of July to the 19th of August. West Coast at first, and who knows what else in between! We wanna see if we can make it to New York city, but it's not like we have a solid plan or anything. Maybe we'll work one out, who knows. Wizarld Word Chicao is apparently happening at some point during our stay as well, so many things...
anybody got a clue how expensive it is to rent a car in the states? I was thinking we could try either that, or hitch hiking, or flying if we plan ahead, or maybe Greyhound buses. I heard those were a pretty good way to get around cheaply, but that didn't seem the case when I checked their website. Ticket prices there went for only 20 bucks cheaper than a plane ticket (roughly) but it takes like three times as long with the bus... anybody got any smart ideas? What about trains in the states?

Either way we're excited as fuck. This will be my second SDCC and it's shaping up to blow the last one way out of the water, and I already thought that one was rad as hell. Satellite Soda will be there in (semi) full force as well. Will YOU?! I have a memory like a sieve, especially when it comes to names, so I probably shouldn't be asking who here will attend (although I have done so before... and just now...). But I hope to meet as many people as possible, that's what that entire affair is about.

incredible work.
cheers.
could you do a tutorial how to color like that ????plz couse i have photoshop cs3 but don't know how to color with it...
I doubt I'm going to be making a tutorial any time soon, sorry. It takes a lot of time and I'd rather just be painting. But just do a google search or something.
Ultimately it's entirely up to you to figure out your own process. You can learn the very basics online very easily, like how to clean up line art and how to prepare it for coloring, etc., maybe one way to set up your layers and all of that. But in the end, finding the right color choices, light source, and everything that really completes the piece is something you can't really teach in a tutorial. There are general rules of thumb you can adhere to, but you gotta make the experiences yourself and learn from them (in my personal opinion).

Thanks for the interest though.
Good luck!

Hey dude, I'm currently applying for BA of Fine Arts in The Netherlands, I would really like to know what you put in your portfolio (some digital prints?) I basically have nothing to do in the next month, so I would like to make a more bulletproof portfolio ;)

btw. happy birthday ;)
I handed in my portfolio on a CD ROM, actually. It was mainly digital illustrations, some digitally colored work and then some scanned traditional work (I kept it under 25 images all together, I think). It was basically what I deemed to be my best work, all around, while still attempting to portray a wider range of skills (or interests, at least).
But then again I never applied for Fine Arts so I'm not sure I can give you the best tips on how to structure your portfolio for that. Why not ask the school your applying for?

hey thnx for the reply!

Will do that for sure, what kinda sucks is that I have to make an exam on the spot. Costing me a fortune, traveling around is expensive :(. And I applied for 2 schools...
