Artist's Comments

Over at Satellite Soda, we were planning on making a second art book for this years San Diego Comic Convention. It was going to be different from the first, in the sense that members of the forum could also participate, and submit images for consideration (as opposed to just the core members of SS providing all the art, like the first time around).
Well, that didn't happen, in the end we didn't have enough submissions. But oh well, it was still fun to produce some art for it. This is one of two illustrations that I made for the book, but since the book isn't happening right now, I guess it's okay to show these. I'll be uploading the second image within the next couple of days.

In retrospect, there are definitely some things I should have still changed about this image (for example I really should have added Kid Missile's boots somewhere in there), but right now I don't have access to the psd, so I don't know if that's ever going to happen.

Here's a [link] to a higher resolution version of the image.

That's it, hope you can enjoy!

Software: Adobe Photoshop CS.

Tje tree is my favourite part. Very well rendered in PS! Overall the quality of the image is excellent but I don't really the way the tree loos 3D an the otehr objects are coloured in a more 2D style. Was this on purpose?

damn you saved this as a PSD? Doen't those files take up a RIDICULOUS amount of space? Why not save as a pdf? Photoshop PDF's print out so well and save so much space.

the boot's idea is good, I think that'd work. This seems like an animated cell to me. The background is so lifelike, and the character is not as much in the rendering it feels more animated, so it seems like the background is that painted background that doesn't change and the character is about to get up or move and do something.....

Love this piece=]
